The 20th European Individual Championship is an 11-round Swiss tournament taking place from 18-29 March 2019 in Skopje, Macedonia and is organised by the government of FYR Macedonia together with the Agency for Youth and Sport of the Republic of FYR Macedonia, and the FYR Macedonia Chess Federation under the auspices of the European Chess Union.
It is open to all players representing the chess federation members of the European Chess Union regardless of their title or rating. The prize fund is €100,000, with €20,000 for first prize.
Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
The first 22 players will qualify for the next World Cup.
