The FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 is a match between reigning champion Ding Liren and challenger Gukesh Dommaraju to determine the next classical world champion.
The match will take place from November 25 to December 13, 2024 in Singapore.
The match will consist of up to 14 classical games. The first player to score 7.5 points becomes the world champion. The time control is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, plus 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus 30 seconds increment per move starting from move 41. Players are not allowed to draw by agreement before move 41.
Tie-breaks: Four-game rapid playoff with a 15+10 time control. Two-game playoff with a 10+5 time control. Another two-game playoff with a 3+2 time control. 3+2 individual games until there's a winner.
